 A fantastic Birthday!

Rachel really, really, really outdid herself. Ruth's Chris steakhouse (been wanting to try it since I was like 12) where I had Kobe steak for the first time (been wanting to try it since I was in Texas), Clocky (been wanting one since it was a MIT Media Lab project), and Three Floyds Fantabulous Resplendance (didn't even know you could get it outside the brewery! And I thought it didn't even exist any more even if you did go there!). Not to mention I think I have Ice Cream Cake somewhere in this house (I'm stuffed though).

I'm grinning like a fool. Thanks babe!

She has some pictures over at her place.

PS - Clocky's alarm sounds like R2D2 from Hell. I don't know how long it'll be until I just throw it. lol

being independent has nothing to do with having a roommate.
she doesn't pay my bills, help me make decisions,
or provide any sort of companionship whatsoever.

You need to check out canvas. It is an HTML 5 element, but it is already supported by safari, mozilla, and IE via a compatability script. It can do some pretty cool things. We're using it on production sites at my new office to create graphs on the fly.

If you've been reading about chrome and what they're doing as far as speeding up the javascript rendering engine this becomes really interesting.

I started a new job about 4 weeks ago and I'm doing things in javascript (Web 2.0 crap) that I didn't even think was possible. I'm learning all about the difference between OO languages and prototyped languages and how they cross over. I'm amazed at how much you can do with javascript (both server side, and client side)
